Abstract: This black and white postcard features a large group of uniformed Red Cross nurses, convalescing soldiers, and a number of men in costumes, taken in front of a brick building with white arches. Men in costumes are wearing women's dresses, nurses' uniforms, Native American headdresses and pagliacci clown uniforms. The individuals are grouped in four rows, the first sitting or lying on the ground, the second sitting on chairs, and the last two standing up. In the back row there are three men standing on a bench or a wall, high above everyone else: one wearing a soldier's uniform, one dressed as a girl, and one dressed as a clown.
