Photography workshop

This workshop is part of the Graphics Lab, a project aimed at picture retouching to improve the graphical content of the Wikimedia projects. More information about the lab can be found on its main page and requests pages (Illustrations ; Photographs ; Maps ; Video and Sound). To ask questions or make a suggestions, see the talk page of the graphic lab page.

This specific page is the requests page for the Photography Workshop. Anyone can make a request for a photograph to be improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

National Gallery Singapore: aerial view[edit]

After two building were converted to National Gallery Singapore, I see it would be meaningful to take photo again for the same site and the similar viewpoint. (Edit conflict) @MrKeefeJohn: If all you need is a good logo, why not search online for a straight on logo like I just did here [1]? If you find one, it's quicker and the result is better then trying to extract it from a photo and then alter the perspective to make it look about right. My 2¢ worth. @MrKeefeJohn: you can request files at Commons:File requests and probably obtain a better result, for logos, than cropping from an existing file. @MrKeefeJohn: Did you know you can crop these images yourself by using the CropTool that can be activated in your commons Preferences, under Gadgets. The CropTool will then appears in the left side of your screen. It saves everyone a lot of time because it transfers all the correct and appropriate information into the cropped image, such as source, license, author, etc. It even leaves a backlink to the original and visa versa so long as the original has been positively reviewed. That way all the proper information is there and does not need to be manually reviewed by volunteers. If you are just cropping a small bit of the image like a frame you can decide to overwrite the original image but for more major crops you should upload the copped version as a separate new image, but you have a choice. You can save time and effort of other editors by using the CropTool. Ww2censor (talk) 13:43, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
