Re: Is SRTM3 available for you?[edit]

Hello Rohalamin.
You're right, GDEx has been retired (see here)and you have now to use their new site: AppEEARS.
I will update the pages and their links in the coming days.
About Wikicarto_2.0.qml, sorry but I don't use it and I don't use QGis. About this, try to contact fr:user:Yug. I'm not sure but I think he initiated that part. Good luck. Sting (talk) 23:10, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Sting
Thank you for answer.
Have you used bathymetry data of NaturalEarth in QGIS? I imported it as vector but cannot see the bathymetry of persian gulf. Also, I'm newbie in using QGIS. Rohalamin (talk) 18:35, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I never used Natural Earth's bathymetry specifically. For bathymetry maps I used directly the SRTM30 Plus data they mention, when it was still free of use. Since then I use the BODC GEBCO which is the most precise free worldwide data available the last time I checked 1.5-2 years ago and you can get them from here. For regional data you can several times find more precise free data (if needed), but you will have to make an Internet research to discover them (that's really the appropriate term!). About questions specific to QGis, sorry but I don't have the knowledge on that software. Sting (talk) 22:33, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Bushehr Province[edit]

Considering you're unofficial ostandar of Bushehr Province here, I feel obligated to report what I did there:

  • Bushehr Province contained some 500-600 images a year ago, now it's zero (0). In other words, every photo is categorized by both subject & place (city/village/county).
  • Bushehr is one of completely clean provincial capitals, means all images are organized by years and subjects. On the other hand, Tehran is messy, with 1377 files.
  • The same is majority of other Cities in Bushehr Province, everything is categorized by date, primary subject (building, street, etc.) and secondary subject (people, tree, vehicle).
  • All related to cities and counties of Busheher Province have navigational tracks on top, so you can jump from city to city, and from Bushehr to other provincial capitals.
  • Virtually all Buildings in Bushehr Province which have a specific category also have coords, which I found myself. Sometimes it took me a minute to find it, sometimes a hour or more.
  • The same goes for all Cultural heritage monuments in Bushehr Province, which are also properly referenced inside Wikidata.
  • I also checked all your uploads and properly categorized it, because many images were uncategorized.

So I dare to say it's the best organized province of Iran. :) Advises for the future:

  • Don't leave photos uncategorized, at least put them under basic categories like Bushehr Province or city, if you're sure it's inside city. This two edits are bad examples ([1][2]), because those images are not in Bushehr, Bushehr County or even Bushehr Province, I'm sure that old road is in Fars Province, north of Dalaki River.
  • Don't also put that image shows some irrelevant place (like this, it actually shows different city of Sadabad, not Ab Pakhsh).
  • If I made any mistake related to Ab Pakhsh just let me know and I'll correct it.

Take care! :) --Orijentolog (talk) 02:39, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Orijentolog You surprized me again. Ok, I'll catgorize the photos that will upload in the future, just like what you do. Thank you so much. Rohalamin (talk) 04:57, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You're welcome, I hope to see more your photos. :) By the way, I identified three Bushehr Province's duplicates on Persian Wikipedia, so when you get time, please merge them: Rais Ali Delvari House ([3][4]), Imamzadeh Mansur ([5][6]) and Dalaki Caravanserai ([7][8]). --Orijentolog (talk) 14:35, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Orijentolog
Oh yeah, just checked them out and you're right. They must be merged. I'll merge them as soon as possible. Rohalamin (talk) 15:23, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 1 May 2023, 23:59:59 UTC.
