Hi Dan, I have an email from the artist giving me consent to use this image. I can forward. Please do not delete this, it really adds to the article. Thank you 193.63.50.36 15:56, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Hello venus[edit]
Newbie here, don't understand much about copyright, but anyway, Now im only uploading pictures of nature from my phone. Cheers --Urville86 (talk) 03:49, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- The file in question was an image of a Korean pop star taken from her band's web page. The band owns the copyright to that image, not you. WikiDan61 (talk) 05:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
File:Paul Amoru Omiat.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

/* File:Humanities Truck at 2018 Adams Morgan Dat.jpg */[edit]
I took the photograph. I work with the Humanities Truck, which is mentioned on my user page. You will see in the EXIF data "Julie Hawks" is the artist. If you go to the Humanities Truck site http://humanitiestruck.com/people/ you will see me listed as staff. Also, when uploading the photo, I marked the box that stated the work was mine. Please remove the copyright violation. Also, I may add additional photos in the future, so please let me know what I need to do to avoid such problems in the future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muzeumz (talk • contribs) 00:58, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
- Wikimedia accounts are anonymous, so there's no way for me or anyone else to know that you are the owner of the photograph. The fact that the photograph was previously published on the Humanities Truck website, where a claim of copyright was made, prevents its use here. I'm not an expert on copyright law, and you might want to seek advice from others on this site who are more expert than I regarding how to upload such an image. Alternatively, you could just take another picture of the truck, not publish it elsewhere, and upload that here. WikiDan61 (talk) 12:59, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
File:Heidi Weisel Headshot 1.png[edit]
Hello! The subject of the image, Heidi Weisel, provided the image to me for this piece. She owns it. She also provided it to the CFDA (because she is a member of their organization) for their website. They do not own it. Please do not delete. Thank you, Dakotajone (talk) 21:50, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Dakotajone: The fact that there is a prior publication history makes publication here problematic. I've copied CFDA's relevant "Terms and Conditions" section to File talk:Heidi Weisel Headshot 1.png. You should explain the ownership issue at there and see what the admins have to say. WikiDan61 (talk) 21:58, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
@WikiDan61: Understood. To clarify, you said "ownership issue at there...," meaning checking with the CFDA's website admins, correct? I can do that, and will keep you posted. Dakotajone (talk) 22:32, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Dakotajone: No, I meant that you should explain at File talk:Heidi Weisel Headshot 1.png that Weisel owns the image, not the CFDA. The Wikimedia Commons admins will assess your explanation. WikiDan61 (talk) 11:53, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61: Ah. Understood. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dakotajone (talk • contribs) 17:15, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Liyann Seet's Infobox photo[edit]
Dear WikiDan61,
Good day. I was the photographer of the photo and I have created the work entirely by myself. The model (Liyann Seet) has also granted permission for me to upload the photograph on Wikipedia. If required, she can verify that she has granted permission for the use of photo. I am new to Wikipedia. Please teach me open a regular deletion request and remove speedy deletion template. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Regards, Tatiana James — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tatianajames (talk • contribs) 18:48, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Tatianajames: The page on which the image appears claims copyright for "Evensi" (the website on which it appears). The caption you gave the photo indicates that it was taken from a watch ad. Presumably either the watch company that commissioned the ad or the website own the copyright. Under most circumstances, neither the photographer who took the picture nor the model who appeared in the photo would retain copyrights on the image. For you to claim that you are the photographer who took the picture, and that you have permission to publish the picture under a license compatible with Wikimedia commons (where anyone else in the world would be free to use the image for any purpose they chose, an amount of freedom that seems unlikely for an advertising photo), you'd have to provide evidence of ownership. A better plan, since you appear to have a relationship with the subject, would be to obtain a new, previously unpublished photo that you could then upload and release under the CCSA3.0 license. WikiDan61 (talk) 19:04, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61: The best way to provide the evidence of ownership and prove that permission has been granted to use the photo will be for the watch company, website and model to verify and validate the information. I will get them to contact Wikipedia directly to validate and provide the ownership and permission. If required, we send in a lawyer's letter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tatianajames (talk • contribs) 19:18, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Tatianajames: A lawyer's letter shouldn't be necessary. But you will need to use the Open Ticket Request System to provide your evidence to the Wikimedia administrators. WikiDan61 (talk) 19:27, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61: Will do. Thank you, WikiDan61! Appreciate your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tatianajames (talk • contribs) 19:37, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61: * Oppose{{OTRS pending}} We have sent a permission to OTRS and it's in progress. Thank you. --Tatianajames (talk) 08:46, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Tatianajames: Thanks for taking care of that. WikiDan61 (talk) 11:52, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
- @WikiDan61: Thanks for helping a newbie like me out! --Tatianajames (talk) 13:22, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: How embarassing! I'm glad they left me as "an anonymous Wikipedia user"! I will note that the current Wikimedia version still appears incorrect as the color of the keys and other "gold" details in the coat of arms section appears too dark, compared to the Vatican's official version. But far be it from me to step into that trap again! WikiDan61 (talk) 18:10, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
