This is a page for requesting work to be done by a bot. This is an appropriate place to simply put ideas for bots. However be aware of various tools available to all users which can be used to accomplish the work without the need for a bot:
  1. Gadget Cat-a-lot can be used for most category adding, removing and moving
  2. VisualFileChange tool can be used for mass-changes of one author's uploaded files, or files in a category, creating a mass-deletion-request, let you insert tags to the file-description-pages (even copy from exif/meta-data). You can also perform find and replace operations with or without JavaScript regular expressions (regexp). A common use case is: "I've changed my username". It's a web-tool and can be launched directly.
  3. AutoWikiBrowser can be used for large number of supervised and automatic edits
  4. Commons:Batch uploading page can be used to request mass image uploads

SpBot archives all sections tagged with {{Section resolved|1=~~~~}} after 7 days.

Change author in my photos to creator template[edit]

Hello, I had uploaded over 6000 images (see here). Please replace in all of the images with

  • |author=[[User:PaulT|PaulT (Gunther Tschuch)]]
  • |author=[[User:PaulT]]

in the template Information the author with the template {{Creator:Gunther Tschuch}} (like in File:Tyniec Abbey and river Vistula 01.jpg). Please avoid changes in my uploads with other author names like in File:Vang Stave Church bell Lob Christi 01.jpg or in File:Chinesischer Pavillon Dresden 2010.jpg (PaulT, but Christine Tschuch). @RZuo: Hello RZuo, I don't know if Jörg speak English. I organize the monthly meeting in Dresden, Germany (de:Wikipedia:Dresden). There he life and often ask for help in person at this meeting. Polona Upload categories[edit]

Special:WantedCategories has a large number of red-link categories resulting from book uploads by the National Library of Poland/ User:Polona Upload.

It should be possible to create and populate those categories, using information from a sample file's {{Book}} template, which gives a year of publication, author, langauge, etc.
